MODEL HISTORY & PRODUCTION
The first Porsche Type 356 rolled off the production line in Stuttgart in 1950. A new chapter began with many models designations to follow.
In its design, the Porsche 356 was the company’s first production sports car. With an evolution starting with the Pre-A, 356A, 356B and the final Series the 356C. In each form they were built predominantly as either Coupe or Cabriolets.
Although several variations were available as ‘Notchback Coupes’ or ‘Speedster and Roadster Convertibles’. This extended to the engine too, with the addition, in limited numbers, of the road-going Carrera four-cam option.
Sold new by AFN Ltd, Porsche main agent in the United Kingdom to its first owner John Croall & Sons the infamous Coachbuilder & past controlling shareholder of H. J. Mulliner & Co Coachbuilders in Chiswick which it held until 1959 until its sale to Rolls Royce Ltd.
An extensive history file is available with original period image & a well-written & photographed Porsche 356 appearing in magazines.
