On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Fleming, Ian.
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Jonathan Cape, London, 1963

First edition, signed limited issue. One of 35 unnumbered "presentation" copies signed by the author; a further 250 numbered copies were also released. This was Fleming's only signed limited edition; it was published simultaneously with the first trade edition on 1 April 1963. Over time, the vellum has shown a tendency to yellow, and copies in such bright condition, with the original glassine, are scarce

Octavo. Original quarter vellum with black cloth sides, titles to spine in gilt, ski track decoration to front board in white, top edge gilt. With the original clear glassine jacket. Housed in a black quarter morocco solander box by the Chelsea Bindery.

Colour frontispiece portrait of Ian Fleming.

Vellum notably bright, book block square, a little faint marking to cloth, light foxing to endpapers; else an uncommonly fine copy in the jacket with slight nicks to fold ends.
